- Others are defending the makeup, saying that wearing it doesn’t make the character any less of a hero

Captain Marvel fans have taken to social media to air their thoughts on Brie Larson’s makeup look in the new Avengers trailer that aired last week.
Fans online are discussing the fact that Brie, who plays Carol Danvers, appeared makeup-free in Captain Marvel, which hit theaters on March 8, while she looked glamorized in the trailer for Avengers: Endgame.
The trailer features Brie for a brief moment in one scene toward the end of the clip, which was enough time for movie fanatics to decide they didn’t like the dolled-up look on the hero.
Wow! Some Captain Marvel fans have aired their frustration after seeing the trailer for Avengers: Endgame in which Brie Larson (pictured) can be seen wearing makeup
Controversial: Fans were unhappy with the makeup Brie’s character wore in the trailer, because she was seen to appear more or less makeup-free in Captain Marvel (pictured)
Yikes! Fans took to social media to share their opinions on her ‘glammed-up’ look in the trailer, with many of the opinion that the hero should not be wearing makeup
One Twitter user said she didn’t understand why there was a need for Brie to wear makeup in Avengers: Endgame, when she appeared to look more natural in Captain Marvel.
User @ryannewmann said: ‘Carol Danvers looking pristinely covered in makeup and all glammed up in the new trailer as opposed to her Captain Marvel look reblog if you disagree. I’m not having that s**t.’
Another user @frodolovebot replied to the tweet, saying: ‘You can always tell when men are behind the character design.’ The user also inserted an ‘eye-roll’ emoji.
Glam! Pictured in the trailer for Avengers: Endgame, Brie Larson can be seen wearing a black tank top, with her hair around her shoulders. She also sports dark eye makeup and a deep berry-colored lip
Similarly, user @Moondancer1626 said: ‘Can someone PLEASE rinse her face off a little. It looks like she used a makeup app on a selfie. #CarolDanvers#CaptainMarvel #someonemisundersoodLipstickLesbian’
The same user added: ‘To be clear, this is not in critique of makeup, wearing it, or wanting to.
‘It’s a critique of men changing the presentation of a female character because the way she was built didn’t match their vision of how she should be,’ she said.
‘Am I the only one who thinks it’s weird how much makeup #CaptainMarvel is wearing in the newest trailer, compared to literally any point in her own movie?’ added user @PlayerVsBird.
User @moonliIIies said she was unhappy with the makeup Brie wore in the trailer, and that she thought that it ‘didn’t make sense’ to change her style.
She wrote in a series of tweets: ‘In captain marvel we saw carol throughout her life, from child to adult, in flashbacks. In every single flashback she had the same tomboyish style. It doesn’t make sense to change her style after she spent decades not being feminine.
Unhappy: Dozens of fans discussed her new look, with many saying they loved Brie’s au natural look in Captain Marvel
‘Carol’s casual looks in captain marvel are loose t-shirts or loose muscle tanks and shorter curlier hair, with no noticeable makeup.
‘Men changing her so she wears a tiny black tank top and makeup is really telling and i wish you people could recognize that.
‘It’s just so frustrating because so many of the mcu women are feminine or wear makeup that seeing carol reject traditional femininity was really satisfying. It feels like a step backwards to have her look entirely different in endgame.
Au natural: Pictured in Captain Marvel, which was released this month, Brie wears what looks like little to no makeup
She added: ‘Carol during a possible world-ending event in her solo movie: leather jacket, flannel, jeans, baseball cap, no makeup, short curly hair.
‘Or her kree uniform. carol during a world-ending event in endgame: long straightened and styled hair, tiny black tank top, lipstick, smokey eye.’
The user explained that although she can understand that ‘style’ can change over time, she feels as though directors of the movie are ‘imposing bias’.
She explained: ‘Yes, style can change over time. But in a movie co-directed by a woman, carol was shown to be a tomboy throughout her life. And when she’s in a movie directed by men, she suddenly embraces femininity. That’s not the character making choices, that’s the directors imposing bias.’
However, despite many revealing their unhappiness with the character wearing makeup, others disagreed.
Many stressed the fact that they don’t think the character wearing or not wearing makeup makes a difference.
Twitter user @Elanabanana777 replied to one of the tweets, saying: ‘Why is that even an issue? Sometimes women wear make up, and sometimes they don’t. Why do you even care?’
Similarly, user @i_am_sts said: ‘Her body, her choice!’
New look: Some fans have defended the makeup, saying that the clip of her in the trailer shows only one scene from the entire movie, and it might only be a once-off case of her wearing it
Popular: Captain Marvel hit theaters on Friday, March 8. The movie will soon be followed by Avengers: Endgame, which is set to premiere on Friday, April 26
Others said it wasn’t fair for people to presume Brie’s character would wear makeup throughout the entire movie, as they were judging it off one scene in the trailer.
User @FlawedIrony87 wrote: ‘Is it a crime for her to wear lipstick? And who says a battle is imminent in that particular scene? Looks like they’re just hanging out and formulating a plan.’
‘Is she in a super-heroin costume? No ! Do you know the details of the scene? No!’ added user @ShyBGirly.
Captain Marvel hit theaters on Friday, March 8.
